Is there a site on the internet where I can type in an html tag or attribute and get an explanation of what it does?
This may seem blindingly obvious to only me, but there's also Google. I just ran this search to double-check some markup.

My favorite such resource is index dot html over at blooberry. Also valuable is index dot css...
You can't type it in, but it's easy to navigate to the tags/attributes you want and goes so far as to break down all the cross browser compatibility bits, etc... I love it.

Sizzling Jalfrezi is an excellent reference site.

I've always been partial to WebMonkey, if only because of their name.
