How to find what a given author's next book will be?

Inspired by this question, I found myself wondering - is there any way to find out what a given author's next book will be? Sort of like those 'screenplay sales' pages where it lists what a given production company has purchased, I guess.

Publisher's Weekly has a listing of property sold that week. Publisher's catalogs will list 6 months out or so. But I don't know of any thing else. I think generally agents and publishers like to guard the secret until they're selling the stuff.

Trade magazines might have information, too -- I know the Romance Writers' Report gives info about first sales. Come to think of it, anything beyond first sales is listed anonymously -- only the price range the author was paid, and number of books sold (like a three book series, etc.)

Michael Cader's Publisher's Lunch (there's a free version and a paid version) lists industry deals each week.
