Not my job (but I guess I should know that)
June 8, 2008 6:45 PM

This question made me wonder what "not my field" expertise you had to learn to do your job. I work as a fundraiser in the arts; in various positions I have had to learn (or just learned through proximity) about medieval choral music, operetta, and musical theater. What do you need to know that's "not your job?"

This post was deleted for the following reason: this probably needs to go to big big question, it's a little open-ended and chatty for here. -- jessamyn

Many years ago when I worked in Accounts Payable (government accounting), I often found myself having to advise a greenhorn procurement officer on how to write the payment terms on a purchase order or subcontract.
