I am seeking recommendations for an original artwork with several specific qualities for a certain spot in my house; or for an artist who might produce such work.
1. Strongly prefer painting; will consider drawing or print of traditional methods. No computer generated, no photography. No prints of paintings.
2. Abstract, somewhat loose.
3. High contrast. Black & White preferred, or at least not dominated by loud colors.
3. Approximately 12" X 12". Can go smaller or a slight bit larger.
4. Target price: $500. Will go as high as $1000 for the right piece.
The purpose of the piece is to give some dynamism and visceral presence to a room that has a bit too much order. Will ignore one or more of the requirements for a piece that is just badass. I have an art background so I am kind of a snot about craftsmanship, technique and attention to detail. It's a shot in the dark, but what the hell.

having no clue as to where you are, I will suggest where many of my friends work, Art Bomb in G'ville, SC. Many different mediums and several talented artists. I recommend Diane Kilgore Condon. Her lastest mural (you won't read this on the website) was a 50,000 dollar piece for a Swedish company, but she is so not motivated by money. I've seen her sell amazing stuff for far less than a thousand.

If I may, donsart.com.
Abstracted landscapes, if that appeals to you.

This is a self link by default -> note the honesty. Please delete if its inapropriate.
My girlfriend is an artist. But I think the work fits, much of the work is high contrast, from deep red to blank canvas. Visceral is probably the best way of describing them that I've ever heard. Most of the pictures on the site are larger than your measurements, but If there was one you liked we could work towards a commission to fit your space. jessicapiddock.com.

Etsy has an area where you can make requests just like this, and get bids.
