will creative suite cs2 with system requirements of powerbook g4 or 5 processor run on my new macbook pro (which has an intel-based processor)?

Yes, but under Rosetta (PowerPC emulation). It'll run okay, but it'll be significantly slower than CS3, which has a Universal Binary (eg, native PowerPC and Intel versions packaged together.)

I run CS2 on an Intel Mac and it seems just fine; of course, I'm comparing it to Photoshop 5 on an ancient, decrepit XP box, so my standards for "runs just fine" may differ from yours.

Yes. And though people say it's "slower" than CS3, I've been running it on my MacBook Pro for a year now, and have noticed nothing abnormally slow about it. Maybe I should try CS3.

While CS3 is significantly faster than CS2 (thanks, UB!), I found CS2 completely usable for the year I used it (my only real complaint was program load time).

Yup. CS2 is completely usable on intel, but I'd highly recommend at least 2 gigs or ram. The main difference I saw after upgrading to CS3 was faster launch times.

FWIW Adobe has said that you really should have CS3 if you are using Leopard.

In fact, Gungho, Photoshop CS2 will not start up on Leopard at all. Be forewarned!

And may I ask Whuts up widdat? A whole mess of major brand software gets borked by Leopard. In addition to Adobe I see Filemaker, 4D, and these people say they have no plans to even try to make the older stuff work. How very microsofty of them...
