Weirdness in PowerPoint
August 22, 2007 4:58 PM

In PowerPoint 2002, it's supposed to be possible to have bulleted items at all levels appear one at a time, using "Effect options" and then the "Text animation" tab. However, that tab is missing, for some reason...

All the help pages that I've read so far, point to that particular tab. That tab is supposed to include the option to group text by a certain level of paragraphs, which is exactly what I'm looking for. However, while I do see the "Effect" and "Timing" tabs, there's no sign of that "Text animation" tab. It's simply not available.

The effect I'm looking for is that every bulleted item, no matter what level, appears 'on click', and not all at once, which is happening now. All first level lists are fine, everything that's second level or lower appears with the first level item above it.

Where did the tab go, and how do I get it back? Is there an alternative to prevent all the items in a list to appear all at once?

I think you want to open your effect properties, and then select 'animate as part of a click sequence' under your 'timing' tab. You should then, I think, be able to do what you need. (I wish I could be definite, but I don't have ppt on my home comp)

That appears to do the trick, thanks!
