Video DJ software for live-adjusting speed/hue/brightness/etc.?
August 16, 2007 1:34 PM
I need to find software that will let me tweak the speed, hue, saturation, brightness, etc. of videos live -- and any other effects but those are the basics. Mac or PC.
I've got gigabytes of solar satellite footage from the TRACE satellite that I want to mix live w/ a DJ -- tweaking the speed and bursting the saturation and hue in sync with music. The key here is live tweaking -- not post-production software like Adobe Premiere or Final Cut. Thanks in advance for the insight!

You might try Quartz Composer - it came with my Mac, and it probably came with yours. You can definitely tweak video playback or live video on the fly with it. Just search for "Quartz Composer" in spotlight, then check out this tutorial from Apple.

MPlayer is a cross-platform (mac/Windows/Linux) movie player, and has keyboard controls, including speed, hue, saturation, brightness etc.

Quicktime has this feature built-in. Open the QT player, hit Command/Ctrl-K and voila! There's Brightness, Color, Contrast, Tint and live playback speed controls (forwards AND backwards, even)
It's a lo-fi solution, but chances are - you've already got it.

ArKaos and VDMX5 are amazing. Jitter looks interesting but I can't figure it out just yet. Thanks!
