How to remap a key to right click in OS X?
June 19, 2007 4:06 PM

Is there any way to remap the oddly placed (in my opinion) enter key on the right side of the Mac keyboard to right click in OS X?

I'm running an Intel Macbook triple booted with OS X, Ubuntu, and XP, and I was able to remap the enter key to right click in Linux and XP, but haven't been able to find a similar solution in OS X. It's really not a big deal, but I was wondering if anyone had the same idea and found a solution.

Thanks!

Can't you right-click by placing two fingers on the trackpad and then clicking?

I don't think there's any native way to do it. I use a Microsoft mouse and their preference pane does it for me. This program looks similar and might be your best bet.

DoubleCommand is a good place to start.

This isn't the solution you're looking for but under system prefs->keyboard/mouse->trackpad you can do what interrobang says and check "Tap trackpad using 2 fingers for secondary click". I also use a program called "Double Command" which adds a preference pane to system prefs to let you remap keys, but I'm not sure if you can remap one to a mouseclick. I use it to set that enter key to a forward delete (like "del" on a PC).

And I need to start reading all the posts before I reply. Lesson learned.
