Need help finding 80s movie with half animation and half live-action

I'm looking for a movie that was possibly made in the early 80s. It had a similar feel of Jungle Book because it had a little boy in it with many animals including a kangaroo. It was part animation and part live-action, and I believe the entire movie was set in Australia. I wish I could remember more details of it, but I was quite young when I watched it and I haven't been able to find it since.

Maybe your memory has combined it with Skippy the Bush Kangaroo.

Wow! Mere days ago I was going to ask if anybody knew what this film was, but my recollections were even hazier than czechmate's and I couldn't put anything into words beyond "little girl" and "live action/cartoon". Thanks.

Forgive me, I'm learning the functionality of this place. It's only been a few days since signing up to mefi. :) I've lurked for years and my husband threw a $5 bill at me the other day and said "do pice, just sign up to that blue thing"

If you think it had a little boy and live action, I bet you also saw Dot and Keeto, an absolutely terrible movie compared to the rest of the Dot movies.
