Forgotten Movie
February 27, 2007 6:36 PM
I'm trying to remember the title of a movie where two versions of the same story were told in parallel. The branch between the two stories started when a man bumped into (or maybe cut off?) the woman (main character I believe) on a stairwell in a subway station, causing her to miss her train. Any clues as to the title?
Awesome movie, btw.

Yep, Sliding Doors is the movie. Starring Gwyneth Paltrow.

You might also want to check out Krysztof Kieslowski's Blind Chance, which has a similar storyline and is great!

Run Lola Run has a similar device where the same story is told three times with little chance variations that cause the ending to change.

Twice upon a yesterday aka The man with rain in his shoes has a similar feel. Love em both.

Chungking Express does this as well. The story switches from the Kaneshiro/Lin story line to the Wong/Leung story line when Takeshi Kaneshiro bumps into Faye Wong. Chungking Express kicks ass.

Actually, Chungking Express doesn't tell the same story two different ways--it tells two different stories.
