PHP MySQL database creator
January 13, 2007 10:03 AM
There are so many ideas I can think of for websites, but don't have the full skills (or time to learn the skills) to generate the Php/Mysql code and interaction. Is there a good application that can create the coding and website for me, if I give it the right information?
If you can define what you want to do better, there might be an open source solution that will work for you, or you can use a generic database-type thing, like zoho creator, dabble db, etc. But, no, WYSIWYG coding is not a reality at any price.

Ning, possibly. They're all over your theory but you'll have to find out whether it works in practice.

Sorry, but you need a programmer.
There are some websites out there that will connect you with freelance programmers who will usually do the work fairly cheaply.
RentACoder is one of them.
You post a short basic description of the work you want done, and then programmers will bid on the work. Because there are a lot of offshore coders working on these websites, the hourly rate you pay for programming is usually pretty cheap, like 10 to 15 an hour or less. However, you can also find local coders who may be better to work with, because they are more fluent in English, but usually they will be slightly more expensive.
Good Luck.

For anything non-trivial, coding is the most efficient way of giving a computer info on what to do. Unless your ideas are very similar to something that already exists, the only way to make something work the way you want it is to express it in code.
You might want to give Ruby on Rails a look, which automates the more tedious aspects of coding.

DaDaBIK might work for you, depending on your needs. "DaDaBIK is a free PHP application that allows you to easily create a highly customizable front-end for a database in order to search, insert, update and delete records; all you need to do is specifying a few configuration parameters."

This is actually a very good idea that I do not have the time to accomplish.
Any PHP/MySql guys want my genius input for a code-generating schema? I have no programming experience but I swear I know EXACTLY what will make the best program.

I think you should just ask a programmer to do the coding for you based on your specifications. That's the 'software' you really need. Try www.rentacoder.com and others.

Without learning the language, though, you won't have all that much flexibility.
