Flying football cows
October 15, 2006 8:50 AM
I was watching yesterday's game on ABC-TV between USC and Arizona. Right at half-time three live cows para-glided into the stadium from above. Two of them were shown landing on the playing field, while the third cow landed somewhere in the stands on top of some cowering fans and a hot dog vendor. The tv quickly switched to the network half-time sports show, and when the second half started, not a word was spoken about the flying cows. I can't find a word about it in today's online press. Can someone enlighten me as to why these cows were flown onto the football field in Los Angeles at half-time?
hmmm link not working ... ok no clicky.

Thanks so much, boodle. I think they must have screwed up the feed, as I didn't notice the product part of the commercial at all -- either that or I must have been half-asleep!

The actual product placement shot was all of about 4 seconds at the very end of the commercial. It was the top of the parachutes saying "Eat More Chickin." Also, one of the cows hits a Burger vendor.
Side note: There were far too many close-ups for it to have been real event (Wide shots of the 'surprise' of cows, cutting to a close up of one of the cows parachuting).

Considering how your question has been resolved, you might want to reconsider those "animal rights" tags. ;-)

Link to several Chik-Fil-A commercials. One of the only drawbacks to living in Montana: we have no Chik-Fil-A.

No prob.
An earlier AskMe thread wondered "Has there been anything like the radio broadcast of the War of the Worlds since?" Maybe the attack of the Chik-Fil-A cows is it?

I love chick-fil-a. Absolutely love it.
However, am I reading this question right? Did you really think this was actually happening?
Also, Chick-fil-a has some amazing marketing/advertising. It's some really great stuff.

I swear I was just thinking of Chick-fil-A the other day, even though there's nothing local. The reason? I found a pic of me at the grand opening of a mall Chick-fil-A 25 years ago. That's me, walking off camera to the right.
That chicken still haunts me.

The Richards Group is the agency behind the entire Cow Protest ad meme.
