Please save my picnic!
September 15, 2006 11:53 AM

My plans for a Park and Ride Party (picnic and cycling in Central Park) tomorrow have been rained out. Please save my get-together by suggesting some active, indoor activities in New York!

We want to do something more active than museuming or shopping. Ice skating and rock climbing are already under consideration, though if you know of particularly awesome places to do either, please let me know!

I am not sure why you canceled the ride in CP. Weather should be reasonable for a ride. The picnic should be changed to a restaurant or home. Can still ride.

Otherwise, Chelsea Piers.

Also, not sure how many people are involved, but my firends and I, when it was too cold or wet outside would have stair races. We'd race up AND down the 30 flights of my apartment building. There were three sets of stairs so we would all start in the lobby equidistant from a stairwell and go. Great exercise. Can have 2 or 3 people per stairwell.

There's always bowling, though maybe that's not active enough either. There's Bowlmor Lanes and a few others.

rock climbing would be fun.

i've personally never been but i hear chealsea piers climbing gym is alright. any of the issues that i've heard about it are things that wouldn't really mean anything to you unless you are a serious climber.

The batting cages in Astoria are always good (or they were, I haven't been there for about five years and maybe they're terrible now). People who aren't up can sit around and chat, mock the batters, etc.
