Mac won't respond to double-click
September 7, 2006 5:59 PM

Can't open anything by double-clicking on my PowerBook.

G4 2003, 10.4.7, (all up to date); I double-click on file or an application, and nothing happens. (Command O still works.) Rebooted (x3), removed all peripherals, run disk utility and repaired permissions and verified disk, at a bit of a loss now. Can anyone hope me?

Is it set to work the way you want it to in your System Preferences? Look under Keyboard/Mouse.

I'll bet your Launch Services cache files are corrupt and need clearing. Try out AppleJack to get up and running again.

Changed the double-click speed in mouse prefs and it all came back as per normal. Thanks, AskMe!
