How can one repair a fairly severe scratch on a Playstation One game? The scratch runs roughly parallel to the edge of the disc, and the PS1 recognizes the disc, and we get as far as loading a saved game, at which point it hangs and won't run the game.

Ah, thanks.

PS1 discs, though, are matte black on the bottom. I'm not sure if the same technique for repairing a DVD/CD will work with one of them.

The black decoration on the disc should make no difference at all. The laser doesn't know the difference between the black plastic and the more conventional, and passes through either with equal energy.

Oh, okay. I didn't know that. All I know is that they look different from regular CDs. I don't do too much tech type stuff, so I really didn't know that the matte black is the same as the shiny silver. :)
