When are the Intel iMacs going to get a speed bump?
I know this is nothing but pure speculation, but I'd like to engage the conversation anyway. So, what are your thoughts?

The MacRumors Buyer's Guide shows around a 6-month average for iMac upgrades, so yeah, WWDC sounds about right.

Yeah. WWDC in August is likely to be it, as it'll be around the time when Intel's next generation 'Core 2' architecture, AKA Conroe, will be coming out in force.

They don't normally announce consumer products at WWDC, so I'd rule that out, though the timescale might be right.
Apple's movements are sadly impossible to predict and information from rumor sites in the last year or so has been more wrong than right, as have many other traditional indicators.
So in answer to your question, any time between now and maybe as late as October is equally likely.

You can bump the speed in iMacs and Mac Minis any time you want (if you have the cash).

I think past upgrade patterns won't necessarily hold with the Intel macs. IBM/Moto weren't exactly consistent or timely with chip updates.
That said, I have no idea what's to come. Hopefully Apple will release speedbumps more regularly so that the penalty for mis-timing a purchase isn't hardly worth worrying about.

That's pretty much the definition of chatfilter.
So I'll jump in on the speculation and say tomorrow.
(useless question)

They'll be speed bumped whenever Apple feels like speed bumping them. You oughta know how that works by now. :)
