Google Maps Voice Changed

My Google Maps navigation voice reverted to the default. How do I change it back to the voice I use for my Google Assistant?

A while back I changed my Google Assistant voice from the default "red" to the "cyan" option. Until today, it used the same voice for navigation in Google Maps. Changing the voice used for Google Maps is why I changed the voice settings in the first place. I hate the default voice.

This morning I had an unrelated bug occurring in Google Maps and had to clear the app's storage and cache to fix it.

Since then, my Google Assistant still uses the "cyan" voice, but now my Google Maps has reverted back to the default "red" voice.

I cannot figure out how to change it back. I have a Google Pixel 5a. The voice selection option in Google Maps is set to "Default (English)." I tried changing it to other voices and languages and back again. I tried changing my Assistant's voice to the default, and tried switching it to other voice options. I reset my phone to factory default and reverted to a backup from overnight. No change.

Is this just a bug and I'm out of luck? Is there anything else I can try, short of buying a new phone?

I have the Pixel 5 and this happened to me once, too! I finally fixed it. Go into Settings, then Google Assistant, then Assistant Voice and Sounds, and you should be able to change it there. Changing it there, changed it everywhere for me.

I hope that helps! Super frustrating, as I hate the default voice, too. I like British Racing Green. :)

Unfortunately that did not work. I'd tried changing the voices in that menu and it still uses the default voice in maps.
