Temp agencies in Toronto...

The ol' job hunt isn't going as swimmingly as I would hope. Can any Canadian MeFites recommend a temp agency in Toronto? The usual job sites have list upon list of agencies, but choosing one seems like a shot in the dark.

If you've done temp work with an agency, or know someone who has, please feel free to share the usual anectodes (for or against). Thanks in advance!

ATS & Apple One are fairly good at finding their clients permanent positions with stable companies, instead of just dealing in short contracts. Apple can have you on the company's payroll immediately instead of paying you themselves, meaning your salary won't be ganked. ATS usually has you on a 3 mo probation before the company you're working for takes you on as a full employee, and during that probation doesn't gank your salary as badly as most of the other agencies will.

3 month probation is standard everywhere, zarah, not just temp-to-perm.

I'd second the vote for Apple One, I've heard a lot of good things about them. Spherion isn't bad, but they're more a placement agency than a temp. Their major downside is that the left hand never knows what the right is doing.

I've had good experience with OfficeTeam in several cities, including Toronto. In my experience they have higher-paying gigs and have more interest in seeing you (personally) succeed (rather than just what you can do to contribute to their success).
