Men's mid- or high-waist trousers, UK
February 7, 2024 6:31 AM
Which UK brands offer men's trousers with a mid-rise or high waist?
Asking on behalf of my partner, who can only seem to get hold of low-rise trousers and jeans. Ideally a straight or skinny leg, nothing too wide or flared. Casual jeans/chinos, not suit trousers.
Web searches (even for "men's high waist trousers", including quote marks around 'men' or the whole phrase) inevitably come up with women's trousers. No one seems to be actively marketing their men's trousers as high-waisted.
Which is why we're looking for personal perspectives from anyone who might have bought men's trousers in the UK with a higher-than-average waistband recently. They don't need to be advertised as such, they just need to be cut that way.

Most of (or all of) Stan Ray's line have mid to higher waists. They have a presence in Europe, but I'm not sure specifically how UK/EU issues may make obtaining them more or less difficult. It's not immediately clear if they have a specific UK stockist.

Marks and Spencers seem to have a relatively high rise - they often have a slightly less fancy and more fancy version of the same thing, and the fancier version seems to be higher rise. I'm thinking particularly of their cords, which my husband basically lives in.

I’ve bought men’s trousers from Finisterre link that have been high waisted, in the last year. Both their Koerner and Basset trouser.

The Oliver Spencer trousers I picked up this year have a higher waist; they have frequent sales making the price less dear.

In the last year I’ve bought two pairs of Levi’s 501s.
The 501 cut changes quite often, but these pairs are certainly mid-rise, slim down the thigh (at least for my big thighs) and straight below the knee.
I’m really happy with them. Bought em from John Lewis where your partner can try a pair for himself. Maybe consider sizing up and grabbing a belt for a bit of extra room - one of the pairs I bought is a couple of sizes too big for me (lost a little weight this year) but still look fine with a belt.
