Looking for a serialized podcast for kids
January 24, 2024 9:58 AM

I've really enjoyed listening to serialized podcasts with my kids. Can you recommend any good podcasts (or audiobooks) for us?

We are just finishing the Mars Patel podcast, and before that we loved The Ghost of Jessica Majors. We've also had fun with Grim Grimmer Grimmest. Any other ideas for a fun podcast or audiobook to listen to in 30 minute chunks?

Our kids are an 11 year old boy and an 8 year old girl. They used to like Circle Round but have grown out of it. We have a Pinna and Spotify subscription. It does not have to be serialized but they've liked the idea of a story progressing. Thanks!

Only six episodes, but our household really enjoyed Squirrel Girl: The Unbeatable Radio Show!

You may already know, but the makers of Mars Patel have other shows too. My 7/8yo has enjoyed Becoming Mother Nature, Treasure Island and Young Ben Franklin in particular.

They are currently listening to Greeking Out which is also going down a treat.

The BBC audiodrama podcast of The Dark is Rising. Most of the episodes are closer to 20 minutes, but it's so good!

We do audiobooks when we travel and my kids have really loved the Ramona Quimby books by Beverly Cleary and the Fudge books by Judy Blume.

My daughter and I loved listening to Eleanor Amplified and Molly of Denali. Story Pirates is only lightly serialized, but it's terrific fun as well.

All already mentioned, but we are also enjoying Greeking Out (which is not serialized) and enjoyed Sound Detectives and Molly of Denali.

If you're willing to listen in smaller chunks, my family swears by Six Minutes.

As eirias mentioned, my kids listened to Six Minutes several years ago and still bring it up in conversation. It seemed to really stick with them.

Thirding “Greeking Out.”

My 9 year old has listened to all the episodes of “This Podcast Has Fleas” multiple times.

Not serials, but we really like Smash Boom Best and Forever Ago.

The Adventures of Red Knight is silly, generous fun! I've really enjoyed listening to it with my kiddo (who also loves Greeking Out - I enjoy that one too).
