Recommendations for men's underwear that wedges
December 15, 2023 7:58 AM

I'm looking for men's underwear that are the opposite of regular boxers - I prefer boxer briefs that are kind of stretchy and wrap everything individually for comfort.

More details:

I'm lucky to pretty much be the standard size male. Clothes made for size large usually fit me well. So I probably won't need to worry about fitment issues.

I like boxer briefs that fit around the upper legs up to the waist.

A frontal pouch or something to keep things separated would be nice. Most briefs and boxer briefs just kind of fit over the general area, with no real shape or compartmentalization.

What's most important is rear fitment - I really prefer underwear that have a deep wedge. I guess people are usually looking for the opposite, but it's more comfortable for me - especially in hot weather. Cycling shorts seem like they're close, but I don't want padding and the front usually seems kind of all squished together.

I'd prefer a stretchy material that retains its shape through the day. I have boxer briefs that fit well in the morning, but by the end of the day they've stretched out and turned into boxers (mostly cotton).

I usually wear loose jeans or thick shorts as outer wear, so it's really just about comfort - I don't really care how they look.

Thanks in advance for any recommendations on brands or even search terms that might help. Sorry if my description is a little vague.

I have no personal experience with these but you may want to look into these Bullpen Boxers and Briefs

Facebook advertised these to me recently and the picture they used was sufficiently confusing that I clicked through.

Saxx is more focused on the front fit, but I think if you try some of their different fabrics or styles, the back may fit what you’re looking for as well.

Echoing what raccoon409 said about Saxx - I'm less focused on rear fitment but they have a wide range of fabrics and styles, and I'm *very* happy with their front fit.

You might want to expand your search to underwear brands that market to gay men as they tend to be designed to enhance certain parts of the male anatomy and might be what you are looking for in terms of lifting and separating both the front and the back. Most of them will have a boxer brief collection in addition to all of the jocks and thongs and mesh wear. I say this as a gay man who is inundated with underwear ads on all of my social media.

uniqlo's airism ultra seamless boxer briefs have been a nice change for me.

Hanes total support pouch boxer briefs work great and are sold lots of places.

They unfortunately have a million versions of them with different materials etc., so sometimes its hard to find the features you want in a particular store. Like long leg which they offer on some.

As a cyclist, I’ve found Saxx aren’t very durable and stretch out/wear in the butt. Calvin Klein boxer briefs are my top choice. They have a shaped front but no separate pouch. look for sales—Costco will hit 3$ a pair sometimes.

My partner wears boxer-briefs and he also likes the Uniqlo airisms a lot. They seem to have fit like what you're looking for and retain their shape throughout the day.

I have pretty good luck with these. I bought them only because I don't want my scrote to stick to my legs when I'm sleeping. Many reviewers say the pouch that you pull your balls into sits too high. They are absolutely correct, but it works OK for my purpose. I haven't tried wearing them during the day.

+1 to Hanes support pouch boxer briefs. I liked them so much I threw out everything else. TheAdamist is right that they have a plethora of versions, which can make buying more of the kind you like a bit more challenging.
