Honey buns recipe?
November 13, 2023 9:36 AM

My husband used to be a big fan of frozen honey buns (I'm not entirely sure of the brand, but perhaps Mortons?). These aren't sold anymore -- does anyone have a recipe that approximates them?

Googling "honey buns recipe" turns up a few possibilities but I'm looking for personal experience if possible. Thank you!

Check out Amazon (prime)...There are many selections...not sure if frozen though.

I found a facebook page for Morton frozen foods run by a former employee who is trying to concentrate support to get con agra (Morton foods current owner) to spin off the bakery division so the baked goods could come back. It looks super popular, and there also seem to be lots of petitions circulating. Tauntingly, some other former employees seemed to *almost* remember the recipe, although they were working in hundreds of pounds of ingredients so if they get it, you’re still in for some math to find out if they’re right.

Here’s my search string that found the fb page if you’re interested:

I would try a modification of a sticky bun recipe. The dough would be the same. You can shape however you wish, but my first try would be to roll it like a sticky bun recipe. After cutting to bun size, flatten to honey bun shape with a rolling pin. Omit the nuts and cinnamon, and drizzle with honey, maybe slightly diluted with water.
