I'd like to do something special and I'm opening it up to you folks for some out of the box ideas for an amazing good girl who is surprisingly full of energy.

Oh my gosh I love Frenchies!

For my Boston Terrier, the best birthday parties included 1) other dogs; 2) an eater-egg style hunt for some kind of yummy food, 3) an ice cream cone to lick. Being taken to a dog-snack boutique and telling everyone you're shopping for her birthday might get her some extra attention. (Admittedly hard because Frenchies get so much attention everywhere they go!)

May we please see a picture of whatever celebration you decide on?

^ yes; we need to see a photo of your Frenchie girl to make sure she is *truly worthy*!

Does she like the beach and/or swimming? You can google a list of dog-friendly beaches, depending on your location.

I have attended an Easter egg hunt attended by Frenchies & English bulldogs and whoa boy was that a fun time. They could open the plastic eggs with their snouts or paws by pushing down gently. I hung out with the same Frenchie at a dog beach in the LA area (RPV) that seems not to exist any longer . . .

I had a friend who rented a convertible and drove his dog all over the place, including a McDonald's drive through where he bought it a large fries.

But since you have a bulldog I would suggest finding a motorcycle with a side car. Get your dog a little leather jacket and some goggles.

One time my dog went the most bananas with excitement-- and we talked about it years later-- was when she got to go on a boat ride with other dogs followed by lunch in a restaurant where the dogs were allowed to sit at the table and be served a plate of food. I think there might be some things like that in your area.

Make a list of her favorite things and include as many as possible in that one day. But remember that dogs need 16 hours of sleep at a minimum. For example, when I did this for my Dalmatian, the list looked like this:

- running
- cheese
- stuffies
- prey smells
- licking stuff
- her favorite "aunt" (= former neighbor she goes nuts for)

So the day went like this:

- wake up, get lots of cuddles, special expensive canned food for breakfast
- drive to pet store, pick out a new stuffed otter
- drive to woods with deer enclosure for a run and sniffing
- go home, receive licking mat with unsweetened peanut butter (never feed sweetened. depending on the ingredients, that stuff is toxic.)
- watch preparation of dog-safe cheese muffins
- nap while muffins are baking
- longer nap while muffins are cooling
- Doorbell! Favorite aunt!
- eat muffins, receive snuggles from favorite aunt, bedtime

Oh, congrats on making it to 12!!!! That's SO wonderful!! I lost my best Velcro boy a few weeks ago at 11-1/2yo. Please give her big snorgles and hugs for me!

If she's anything like my Frenchies, it's watermelon time!!!! Get your baby her own mini seedless watermelon - just be careful to take it away from her before she gets to the rind (more than once I've had to wrestle the rind away and it's a slimy, slimy tug of war).

Does she like being wet, because you can do a baby pool with balls or water (or both!).

My boys all get whipped cream and shoppies on their birthday, with a trip to pick out their own birthday present at a local pet store (independent - not big box). Also, I don't know if you're aware, but there are a bunch of stores you can take her to. Lowes, Home Depot, Home Goods, Home Sense, Sierra, Ulta. I've also had one of mine in the mall for a couple of visits. Harvey had many admirers and slept for hours and hours when we got home.

(Just be careful having her outside in the crazy heat - especially on the sidewalk/asphalt.)

Hope you post pics of your baby!
