What does a Mastodon user I blocked see when I use a tag they clicked?

When a user I've blocked on Mastodon clicks on a tag I've used, what do they see? Do they see a message that my post is blocked? Or does my post just not appear for them in those results? Thanks!

I don't know but I am curious. I am willing to be a test subject if it helps. https://mefi.social/@terrapin

Response by poster: Aw, that's sweet but from what I can tell (very little at this point lol) you have to be in my replies for me to block you; when I go to your page on your server I don't see that option. I'm @tmorman@mastodon.world if you want to angrily comment on my latest post about the tree in my front yard to tell me I'm supporting Nazis by still following anti-racist activists on Twitter.

Best answer: You may need to search that usernane from your own timeline to get the option - Mastodon is weird - but it definitely doesn't require someone to reply first. (At least via the web interface.)

Best answer: My understanding is that blocked users won't see your posts even if someone they followed boosts them, so I'd expect a similar mechanism for tags.

That said, if the user is likely to stalk you, they'll be able to see any of your public or unlisted posts by visiting your profile directly, so I wouldn't rely on blocking to do anything more than preventing them from interacting with you directly.

Response by poster: Thanks, Aleyn. So I can assume "The user won’t see you in public timelines" includes hashtags? That makes sense, though it would be nice to see it spelled out more clearly.

And thanks, restlessnomad, that did it. terrapin, I just blocked you; I'll memail a tag to play with to see if you see my posts.

Best answer: I checked the hashtag that mediareport sent me to test after blocking me and I see there is "one person talking" about the hashtag, but when I click on that tag I get a message that reads "There is nothing in this hashtag yet."

So, mystery solved, I hope.
