Soft Cheese and Fruit Snack Cup
November 4, 2022 8:53 AM

Help me identify this snack i saw on a TikTok and now can't find or remember.

Because I'm "old" I don't understand TikTok very well. A few weeks ago I saw a post from a mom that was a response to a comment about a snack she packs for her kids. She thought it was a fruit/yoghurt treat but was surprised to learn it was fruit and soft cheese. It sounded interesting and i wanted to look for it but of course I didn't write anything down or save the video. Search in TikTok doesn't bring up anything so I'm hoping someone here can help. Details:

These were a snack-cup treat that came in a six-pack, kind of like this Dannon Yogurt.
The label definitely said soft cheese, as she showed the camera.
She didn't show what it looked like but I assumed it had a yogurt consistency.
I thought the company began with an M but I don't really remember.

Any assistance in this is appreciated!

I am not familiar with the item or the TikTok, but you can look at your watch history in the TikTok app. If you haven’t watched a lot since you saw the video, maybe you can retrieve the video that way?

Is it this TikTok, possibly? I remember seeing this one circulating a few weeks ago.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. They’re called Petits Suisses Montebourg With Fruits.

@dikva that has to be it! I’m so impressed by your search skills. Curious to hear back from OP

It may be Danino/Danonino quark, which is a soft, mild cheese with fruit. It’s quite good as I recall. As far as I can tell it isn’t available in the US, however.

MelanieL, the food coop I used to work for had quark in the cheese section, from a local company Clock Shadow Creamery.

Wow! divka has it! and it looks like what she was showing was Yoplait Minigo which is available in Canada

However I'm very interested in the item Champagne Supernova mentioned - which is available at Whole Foods

Thanks Everyone!

Quark! It's similar to yogurt but it's actually a kind of cheese.

Not quark!

So in the UK you can buy stuff called 'fromage frais', but it's basically thought of as a close cousin of yoghurt, you can get it with the same kinds of fruit flavours that yoghurt comes in (strawberry, raspberry etc) and it sits with the yoghurts on the shelf. But the name is never translated into English, so it never occurred to me to think of it as cheese, it's definitely bracketed as a yoghurty thing here.

(Her packet actually says both 'fresh cheese' and 'fromage frais', which obviously mean the same thing, but in the UK, we'd never actually think of this stuff as fresh cheese.)

This suggests that fromage frais is not the same as quark: "Is [quark] like fromage frais? Yes… kinda. There’s a similarity in terms of texture but quark is higher in protein, lower in fat and lower in sugar."

That article, btw, will blow your mind with the variety of "is x like y?" comparisons of dairy products...
