Help me find amazing print garments
December 30, 2021 3:17 PM
The last two years have been rough and I'm not feeling that hopeful about the next one. So I might as well have some fun clothes to wear.
The perfect item should meet these criteria:
1) Intriguing prints - not girlish and whimsical, not science themed. Here are some examples.
2) Knits preferred
I've already spent a lot of time prowling at Boden and it's not quite what I'm looking for.
Any other ideas on making 2022 fabulous despite itself are welcome.

I walk by Nooworks to buy coffee, and their stuff comes *very* highly recommended by friends!
I love bold prints, and often have success browsing through ThredUp’s Rent the Runway offerings - Peter Pilotto is a recent discovery; they have HEAPS of Joie shirts in many, many patterns (both silk and non-silk). Some labels with great prints in my favorites: Marimekko, Alice + Olivia, Missoni, Isabel Marant, Sita Murt, Reformation, Hofmann Copenhagen, The Odells, Shoshanna, Kate Spade, Wildfox.

On the off chance you were willing to buy fabric and maybe send to someone (Etsy?) to make you some thing(s), some of my Spoonflower favorites are just exactly what you seem to be after. (Admittedly, not super cheap). I splurged on a couple strips of wallpaper for my new digs in this!
Ok so after I put all that together I tried to find someone who would make a shirt from fabric you gave them and didn't find anything reasonably priced. But, you could get a shower curtain or throw pillow or one of the other products at Spoonflower in any of those patterns. Maybe that would be a nice thing?
Sorry you had a sucky year. Keep making stuff! <3

(oops, regular curtains not shower curtains. Now where did I see shower curtains?)

I love colorful patterned clothing. I own quite a few pieces from Nooworks as linked above. I have two dresses from Karla Cola, below. Other sources from my pinterest board:

You want Tiny Vikings! Unfortunately there are no products showing on the website right now because it's pretty much a one-woman company and she'll be having festive holidays with her family, but you can browse the pics on her facebook page in the meantime to get an idea (there are loads of Christmas-themed pics near the top atm for obvious reasons, but scroll down for more). It will probably be open for orders again within a week.
She basically has a number of designs for dresses, tops, skirts and trousers, and loads of different Scandinavian print jersey fabric (and many colours of plain jersey and trim to coordinate if you want). When you order you choose your design and whatever fabrics you want, and she makes them to order - but they're not super-expensive.
She's Swedish and based in the UK but I'm sure she'd ship internationally.

Just as a general note, from your examples it looks like Art Nouveau could be a magic search term for you. Not the period of fashion itself, just designs using the print patterns these days.

Eshakti has some great, unusual prints, and everything is fully customizable. You may have to dig through a lot of solids, but I think some of their jersey tunics, sweaters, blouses, and dresses would meet your criteria.

Not knits, but Zuri makes the most amazing clothing. I feel so joyful whenever I wear mine.

You would also definitely like the prints at Birds of North America, but they aren't knits which is what's kept me from pulling the trigger personally. If you have an easier-to-fit body type you might find it worth the risk.

I'm still being made ridiculously happy by my purple harem pants. Partly because I like the print, but mostly by how stupid comfortable they are to wear.

Mata Traders, Blue Platypus, and Effie's Heart seem like the best fits for me. It's been fun to browse all of these fun, colorful sites. Thanks everyone for your help :)
