Clever, witty, and hopeful cake inscription for a name change
October 2, 2021 3:53 PM
My wife will be changing her name on Monday. I would like to celebrate by getting a cake. What clever, witty, hopeful inscription would you suggest?
Her soon-to-be old name is associated with trauma and her soon-to-be new name encompasses everything has is now: growth, happiness, and self-love.

Hello, darling (name). So glad to meet you!

As someone who views sincere gestures with suspicion, I'd be tempted by a "hello, my name is" name tag image. Maybe with a tagger/paint-pen style name drawn in. (Cheers!)

I too got (myself) a cake for my legal name correction! If it had been a gift, "To [Name], with love." would have been an entirely wonderful inscription, in my opinion.
On preview: or the name tag! Now I actually might steal that for when we can have parties again, just a big sheet cake that's a giant tag. My personal cake was small and kinda fancy though, so if I'd thought of it, I probably would have gone with a 3D prop rather than an inscription.

I vote you and any other party guests wear an actual Hi My Name Is tag and make a ceremony of handing her a blank with a sharpie, and save the cake for one of the other great ideas above.

If you might allow us the detail of knowing her new name, we could crowdsource some wonderful puns.

Hello, New Name!
As someone who has changed their name for this reason, I respectfully caution against using her old name in any way.
However, I love the simplicity of “Hello (new name)!” surrounded by a design that signals growth, happiness, and self-love to your wife. For me that would be floral/nature themed, but YMMV.
PS: I love this whole cake thing. How cool! And my congratulations to her!

Perhaps just Newname with lots of beautiful design around it. Floral, nature, fireworks... something like that.
