How to do massage therapy out of state license

I am looking into returning to New York from Texas after 25 years. Have visited a couple of times and would be interested in the following information: It may be difficult to get New York licensing for Massage Therapy (long story, nothing illegal) Does anyone have experience with unlicensed massage therapy in New York?
I basically am not looking forward to going back to school after so many years to meet requirements in New York. I have already contacted state board in NY. I have Reiki Master/Teacher certification and a college degree. Am also thinking about working any side job as I build clientele there.
