Help me assemble my notes
January 13, 2020 10:41 AM

How can I transfer many iPhone notes into one document?

I use several apps to make notes -- mainly the built-in Notes app on my iPhone & iPad, and Notepad on my PC.

I want to print all these notes to a file, preferably Excel or Word -- without having to open, copy, and paste each one. Then I’ll manipulate & massage them for my organizational needs.

Any thoughts on how to do this? The notes on my iPhone are the most important.

Shortcuts.app

If you haven't used it much before you can do something like this:
  • Create a new shortcut
  • use the search bar to find the "Find Note" action, drag it into the workflow. Don't set any filters so that it will return all notes
  • use the search bar to find the "Combine text" action
  • use the search bar to find the "Quickview" action
Running this shortcut will combine all of your notes and present their concatenated text in a dialog with a sharing button - you can send this lump of text where you want including Word (if installed) or mail.

I was going to say Shortcuts too except mine is more like have it loop through each note and dump the text into a text file that you can then email. Like here. I don't have any notes on my phone so I don't know if this will work, and I don't know if it's better or worse than the approach described above.
