A screensaver or darkness on Samsung TV
December 5, 2019 9:11 AM

I stream music to a soundbar via Roku on my Samsung UN32EH5300. I don't want the dancing song titles etc on the screen while I'm listening ... I'd like the TV to be completely dark or with some sort of festive fireplace or aquarium screensaver when I'm listening to music. Samsung customer support is of zero help and I can't find anything in the manual. Suggestions, please? Thank you!

Does this work?

I wish it did! The picture settings don't have "Picture Off" in my menu. It's not in "Advanced Settings" either.

Do you have an old smartphone laying around? Perhaps plug the smartphone into the soundbar via aux cable or bluetooth?

Finally found it under "Eco Settings." Shame I can't locate a screensaver, but at least it's dark now. Thank you both.

Here's a slightly alternate solution.

I also have a similar situation and I think even the same or a similar TV, except I am streaming music on two sets of speakers simultaneously using two chromecasts. As of recently, chromecast will let you set the photo slideshow you want as a screensaver while streaming from Spotify (and showing the song titles, weather, time, or none of that I believe) to a group of TVs.

Bonus for anyone with older speakers and/or older monitors - I am accomplishing this via a HDMI to VGA/audio splitter I got for cheap on Amazon. You actually don't even need to attach the monitor or a TV at all, you can plug a video Chromecast into speakers this way.

Drape a light blocking tapestry over it. Make sure you're hanging it in a way that doesn't restrict airflow to the back of the screen.

You could also navigate to Picture>Screen Burn Protection>Scrolling.
