Where online can I find good, fresh fiction?
March 2, 2006 6:28 PM
OnlineLitFilter: I'm after recommendations for good, current, original fiction available online.
I'm looking for stuff that's being written right now-ish, so Project Gutenberg, out-of-print kind of stuff is off the list.
Bonus points for:
* writers either working purely on the web or who have yet to be published
* non sci-fi/fantasy/fanfic
* individuals versus "magazines"

Scifi writer Charles Stross has made the text of his new novel Accelerando available online, before publication. Last month, he even asked folks to help him proofread the galleys.

You could try here (novel in progress) or here (short stories) or peruse this journal, though I can't vouch for the quality of everything.

No bonus points for me, but Baen Free Library. Tor (another mostly Speculative Fiction publisher) is also considering something like that.

Well, these seem a bit obvious to me, but I thought I'd share them with you.
Sci-fi has had an archive of good independent fiction for the last 6 years. Should take you a quite a while to get through these.

They've also started a new audio fiction site

Also, found this the other day, but can't vouch for it's quality.

Check recommendations on this previous thread...
I'd also recommend The Paris Review, although much of the content needs to accessed through subscription.

I declare Urban Hermit the current champion, based on the bonus point system.
Thank you everyone for playing. Late entries are still being accepted.
