Looking for a song, partial lyrics

Google is failing me, or maybe I'm failing Google - I've only got a couple of lyrics from this song, which seems to be about an itinerant bible salesman. It's an older song, maybe alt or alt-rock? Kind of an easy, contemplative beat...

Here are some of the lyrics I remember:

"the moon is a yellow dog's tooth"
"you can stop what you're doing and look up / and think you see some kind of truth"

"full color maps, just $12.95"
"one way or another it keeps me alive"
"everything Jesus said lettered in red"

JUST these bits of this song have been stuck in my head for days now, and if I can't get it out I may lose my mind. Maybe if I hear all of it, I can move on. Any help would be appreciated!

Response by poster: Hey, thanks, that's exactly the right song! The Youtube link is also the right version, and at least now I have more lyrics to sing to myself any time my brain feels I need an internal soundtrack...

The Indecision version is the right lyrics but totally the wrong sound/vibe - why do I always end up liking the very most obscure version of any given song?

But with the right song name, I was able to track down the version I DO want, which was done by Nickeltown on an album called Presto Change-o in 2000. Which Amazon happens to have a CD version of, and which I have now purchased.

So, many thanks to both of you, this was really helpful!
