Where to go for Vegetarian V-Day dinner near the NYC Public Library?

Can you recommend a vegetarian friendly restaurant near the New York Public Library (Bryant Park) for a Valentine's Day dinner? It's fine if the restaurant is omnivore as long as they have some good items without meat. No other food restrictions.

Can you tell us anything else about cuisine preferences or rough budget range?

It's good you're open to omnivore because there aren't many specifically-veg nice places around Bryant Park.

My first thought: consider either of the two great Ethiopian places in the west 40s (Queen of Sheba or Meske).

If that doesn't sound good, general advice: you want a place with interesting veg stuff that won't make a vegetarian feel like a distant second class citizen. Asian places tend to be best for this and Italian, French, Nordic, and South American (and of course steakhouse or fish focused) tend to be worst.

Cho Dang Gol on 35th St is a Korean restaurant with lots of nice veg options. They specialize in homemade tofu.

If I want to splurge on a vegan/vegetarian meal, Kajitsu would be my first option in the area. L’Addresse right across Bryant Park also has great vegetarian options (I had these little purple potatoes in coconut milk as a special side dish once and I still dream about them.).

For a more casual option, Beyond Sushi on 37th Street has really good vegan sushi.

Some restaurants might also work; depends on where they fall on the not-mixing-meat-and-milk split (some restaurants decide to go with meat, some decide to go vegetarian). There is a small cluster of places near the Diamond district.
