Do you know a good tax expert in Canada familiar with up to date IRS stuff for Americans who have never lived in the US?

I am looking for someone to give me some advice regarding a potential contract I might have in the US.

I happen to be an American citizen as I was born there, but I have lived in Canada my whole life, and am also a Canadian. I have both an SS # and a SIN. I am legalyl employable in either country.

I know the IRS wants me to be filing even though I don't live there, and I have not been doing this. I know I am not alone in that. I make (substantially) less than $75K a year, if that is relevant any way.

So I have a contract (basically the same as if I have sold a book) for a US company and they will be paying me in US funds. The US company has been assuming I am a Canadian. It will make no difference to them and in fact probably make it easier for them if they were to pay me as an American.

I am looking for an expert to talk with in Vancouver. Do you know of anyone who has up to the date expertise in this area?

Taxmaniacs is a local outfit that does Canada/US tax returns. They have mixed reviews, not my favourite, but they meet the qualification of local.

Have you considered working remotely with US expert that does Canadian on the side? I liked Gary Gauvin.

One of my best friends is a tax professional in Vancouver who specializes in tax issues for American-born citizens who have lived in Canada their whole life. Unfortunately she works for a professional office and not for individuals. But I will send her a link to this thread and see if she has anyone she can recommend to you.
