Looking For Best Vegan Cream Of Mushroom Soup

I love Campbell's Cream of Mushroom soup. I also am trying to eat vegan. Is there a recipe out there that will produce a vegan equivalent?
Cookery writer Jack Monroe is asking for requests for recipes to recreate as vegan for her next book:

I'm sure it would be a popular request, if she hasn't already done one.

I've been successful making cream of soups including mushroom with raw cashews instead of dairy. If you are blending the soup, then just throw the cashews in to simmer. Otherwise, make cashew milk/cream by soaking the cashews in hot water while you cook the soup, then blend with some of the soup liquid and add back to the soup. If you do not have a powerful blender, then soak the cashews for longer and blend until smooth before adding or it will be grainy. Do not sub roasted cashews for raw or the roasted flavor will change the soup.

Best answer: This Serious Eats recipe is great but might be overkill for what you want.

My wife made this recipe yesterday to use in a casserole for our daughter that can't have dairy. It wouldn't affect it at all to use mushroom broth instead of chicken to make it into mushroom soup.
basically it's a thick bechamel/milk gravy with your favorite non-dairy substitute instead of real milk.

Best answer: I made this recipe for Mushroom Barley Soup last week and it was delicious. Just leave out the barley and puree more of it if you're looking for a Campbell's-style soup.

Best answer: Over in the soup MetaTalk thread, peagood posted this recipe for Oliver and Bonacini's mushroom soup - it's a rich creamy mushroom soup without any cream, and it's vegan by default. O&B is a chain of restaurants that are local to Toronto, and I've had this soup before at one of their locations. It's very, very good!

Pureeing some boiled potatoes in (the sticky kind not the floury kind) with mushroom/any soup gives it a creamy feel (I find just having nut or other milk cream can sometimes still give the 'watery' taste)
