Big Sneezy in the Big Easy

My best friend and I are going on a long-planned weekend trip to New Orleans. We arrive Friday 12/28. I have a nasty cold AND the forecast is for rain/storms all weekend. I am determined that we will have fun somehow but am seeking recommendations for the best soups New Orleans has to offer.
Would also love ideas of things to do to replace outdoor activities we had planned (City Park, riverboat, walking around town). I know the pharmacy museum and the WWII museum and Mardi Gras World are all frequently recommended. Any other low key indoor destinations that are beloved of locals would be gratefully noted. We’ve never been to NO before and it’s rotten luck that the weather isn’t going to cooperate and that I’m sick for the first time in a year.

Best answer: Oh, pho is magical for colds and so good so many places here. I can recommend Lilly’s on Magazine St in the lower garden district. New Orleans is also a great city to pick a bar (or coffee shop) and just hang out and people watch.

Best answer: I am merely a return visitor (somehow I decided to spend a week there two years in a row), but Julia Street (i.e. the walk towards the WWII museum) is packed full of art galleries: I ran into it on my way to the WWII museum and spent most of the day there instead. I also liked The Three Muses for being a chill bar with live music and no smoking.

Best answer: If you want good casual New Orleans fare, go to Coop's Place on Decatur for gumbo—less expensive and less touristy than Gumbo Shop.

Best answer: I just mentioned this to some people at work and a guy said the WWII museum is really cool as an indoor activity. So seconding that.

You also definitely want to seek out some pho while you’re in town, but I don’t have a recommendation for a specific place.
