Painting name opinions?
October 22, 2018 8:04 AM
I painted a camel painting and named it Camelflage. It is the best of names. I painted a second camel painting. It needs a good name too, even if nothing can quite compare to the majesty of the first name.
Here's a link to both paintings.
More backstory: I started the first camel painting with a "white on white" concept in mind, but it pretty quickly changed direction and I was interested in where it was going so I let it ride. I am happy with the end result and I titled it Camelflage. I am super in love with that as a name. But I still wanted to do my original concept, so I decided to do a mirrored version. I am kind of stuck as to how to name it, though - Camelflage II just makes you wonder where Camelflage is, and I want this one to be able to stand on its own if I exhibit it separately. So I came up with a list of options but came up with too many and am having a hard time deciding and am hoping for opinions (and feel free to suggest your own if none of these seem to suit it).
Additional factors: I am going for having the name of the second feel linked in some way to the first if I show them together but not reliant or referential to there being multiple if I show them separately. There may in fact be a third camel piece as well because I'm not certain this second one exactly got at my initial idea either though it is closer, so that might factor in to your naming choice, too.
List of options:
Blancamel
Opticamel White
Opticamel
White Coat
Dreamedary
Incamelspicuous
Angelicamel
Achromaticamel
Camelceptual

Dreamedary. I think it is the best combo of integrating the camel theme into another word in a way that is still pronounceable and what the painting looks like. I also like White Coat, but I don't think it is as strongly linked to the first name.

Oooh, I really like Cameleon. It goes with Camelflage so well. It's perfect!

While I like Cameleon, it may be worth saving for the green version.
Dreamedary works, and I've been trying to think of a decent snow or winter-themed name, but other than the pitiful Alas-camel, (or the slightly worse Alas-kamel), I've got nothing.

Dreamedary. It's fantastic on its own and also pairs well with Camelflage if you show them together.

The problem with Dreamedary is that it brings up the question of the number of humps, which could otherwise be ignored!

I'm sure it's too obscure but my first thought to match Camelflage was Camelnuage (cloud in French).

I'd call him Humphrey, but that is based entirely on a joke my Dad told me when I was a kid and is in no way a pun. The joke "What do you call a camel with three humps?"
Serious name suggestion. Palindromeadary. It looks the same from both ends as it's part of a set of 2 camel paintings.

I was trying to make some sort of bi-camel-eral representation pun, but you should call it Dreamedary.

Lovely paintings.
The white one reminds me of Monet's snow paintings so I'm gonna suggest Camel Claudel
or Camelflog to rhyme with the first title.

Camel milk
you can tell people you like to “Draw me dairy”
NB: I feel this pun is still a bit rough but has potential and with sufficient polishing can be improved to even rival camelflauge

Camelflague 2. I know you don't want to do that, but I think seeing Camelflague 2 without 1 or 3 present would just make me curious into your work or series. You could also title them all just "Camelflague." Best part of painting naming is there are no rules.

I just felt the need to mention that there used to be (and may still be) an old gray pickup around town in Chico, California that was covered all over with stenciled, randomly oriented camels in drab colors...

Thank you all! I am leaning toward naming it Dreamedary since that was the most popular choice, but I must admit that I have a strong personal inclination for ferret branca's Camelnuage suggestion. I do think it is probably too obscure but it is nevertheless fantastic.

Display Camelflage further forward and then the second painting can be CamelBak.
