ISO Perfect Unicorn Lounge Pants
October 16, 2018 1:36 PM
It’s getting cooler out (finally!) and that mean I need new comfy warm lounge pants. I’ve never been happy with what I have, and I know the perfect ones are out there and MeFi can help! Specifications inside....
The perfect lounge pants are as follows:
-warm
-soft
-no drawstring
-stretchy fabric
-fitted through the waist/butt/thigh area
-straight leg or bootcut (no leggings, NOT gathered at the ankle)
-ideally comes in short/petite sizes
-not horribly expensive, I’m thinking like 40 bucks or less?
-color doesn’t really matter, but a selection would be nice
Do you have these pants? Do you know where I can get them?
Much appreciated!

Oh, yes, sorry. Women’s clothing. I’m fairly curvy, so it would be nice if they were flattering, though that’s more of a personal judgement call.

I promise not to threatsit, but those Uniqlo ones are not quite what I’m looking for. I’m not sure how to describe this, but I’d like the upper part to fit kind of like leggings (but without the compression factor that most of them have) with a straight or flared, non-clingy leg.
Okay, I’ll go away now.

Boot cut or boot leg yoga pants or lounge pants are bringing up a lot of options that seem to fit your requirements like this and this.

Old Navy boot-leg or straight-leg yoga pants/workout pants are what work for me. They're especially well-priced during sales. I get the synthetic fabric ones, but cotton is also an option. I've also found similar ones made by Champion/C9 at Target. The ones I get are always comfortably fitted through the top & thigh and then mostly hang from the knee down. They're often called "compression" pants, but there's only enough compression to keep them snug and not moving all over. They're certainly very comfortable and not at all pinchy/squeezy.
I'm 5'6" and a size 12-14 with curvy lower-body shape. I get regular length, but the ones I've seen also come in short/petite. The only thing I can't comment on is color variety as I always buy black ones.

I basically live in Lands End Active Yoga Pants. They're fitted and flattering in the hips/but/thigh, and have a slight boot cut that hits the shoe nicely. They're thick but not too heavy.

I've been pretty happy with these Jockey bootcut pants, which come in a short length. I fill mine out quite a bit more than the Zappos model, but they look nice. I've had them since April 2017 and they've held up pretty well.
They meet all the criteria on your list except it's hard for me to say about warm. I live in Arizona - they're warm enough for winter here.

At Target in California a few months ago I got the exact pants you describe - they're "yoga pants" in with the jogging pants and sports bras. Very flattering too. They're just Target brand, definitely under $40, and came in short, regular, and tall.

Oh my god, you guys. Up until today, I totally thought yoga pants was just another word for leggings. Those all look like exactly what I want. Can anyone vouch for the thickness of the fabric on any of these? I live in Arizona, so it’s not exactly the hinterland, but thin “athletic” fabric is too cold in the “winter.”

Lands End has various versions of this type of pant, and the fabric is medium thick. Perfect, imo, Chicago fall/winter/spring. Not bulky like sweats.
