Police being called on Black people

So one of the frequently recurring themes of this summer is the cops being called by white people whenever they see a black person in public, doing yoga, listening to Enya CD's in the car, running a lemonade stand, etc. It seems every day there is a story about someone feeling threatened by a black woman sitting on a bench in the park. The daily "I see a black person" updates started with the story earlier this summer at the Philly Starbucks.

I've theorised three possible explanations about this. 1. It`s the flavour of the month on newscasts, it`s an unwritten rule one must be featured a day. Two, this has always gone on, see number one for reasons of reporting. Three, Maga voters, deplorables, Nazi sympathisers et al feel more comfortable displaying racism in a post-Charlottesville America.

Do any of these theories ring true? Or is there another explanation of the worst summer fad ever.
