What to do in Lyon when it's roasting and everything's closed?

We will be in Lyon for a weekend break this weekend - yay! Unfortunately it's a heatwave, the weather is set to be around 100°F and also many restaurants, shops etc are closed in August - boo.

So what can we, a middle-aged couple who can't stand the heat, do with our time there? So far I've thought of going to the fine arts museum and going for ice cream and maybe to a jazz club in the evening. Any other great ideas? Thank you.

Get up to Croix Rousse to see the Mur des Canuts (les canuts were the city's silk workers). In general, there are stupendous murals all over Lyon, especially down near the river, but these are amazing.

If it's open, stop by Les enfants terribles (a restuarant, 58 rue Mercier). It's on a row of dozens of restaurants/bars and the food and service there is incredible.

The Gallo-Roman Museum of Lyon-Fouviere is mostly underground and cool (I mean temperature, but it's cool, too).

If you like jazz, check out Hot Club Lyon. It's a tiny jazz club in a basement cellar. Nominal cover, little bar outside, a/c and music inside (all seated, quiet venue, people are there for the music).

This literally was us last August. In Lyon, in 98-degree heat, without air conditioning, with a 9-month-old, on my birthday! Whee!

We did the museum you mentioned, and also took a river boat tour (I think it was Les Bateuax Lyonnais) which had an air-conditioned cabin. It wasn't, like, the most *amazing* fun I'd ever had, but it was nice to cruise around on the water and have city sights pointed out to us. (And while the wasn't American-big-box-store levels of cold, it was certainly a nice break from the oppressive heat outside.)
