Acai tea

Does anyone know where I can find acai tea?
Does anyone know where I can find acai tea? I’ve looked online, in local health food store and tea shops but have come up short every time. There has got to be some small company somewhere in the world that makes it. Any help or inquiries will be apreciated.

Nope, no friends from Brazil. I have family/friends in Chile and Argentina but they are only good for sending mate. I think I am pretty much doomed.

Whole Foods Market should have it...I think you have one there in Louisville. It is fairly new to them, so you may have to ask them to order it for you.

I've lived in Brazil for two years and have never heard of açaí tea. Neither has my Brazilian roommate. And a quick search of "cha de acai" comes up with only two results. Where have you had açaí tea before?

Strange, acai is the latest fad, as was pomegranate was last year. I have seen that in every Odwalla or Naked drink. Sadly, it is nasty tasting. I cannot believe that Whole Paycheck or wild oats does not have it.

It's a big drink in BJJ (Brasillian Ju Jitsu) circles - you could try contacting the local MMA gym, some of the guys there may have a sourced it.

There was article in People recently (the one with Brangelina on the cover - yes, I know that doesn't narrow it down but it was the last two months, and yes it was my roommate's mag I swear!) about two bothers who are surfers who came across the Acai fruit on a surfing trip in Central America. They're now marketing the stuff in SoCal for smoothies etc. And the article mentioned Whole Foods I believe... So I might start there.

Searching Froogle came up with a couple sites that acai juice, which I suppose one could use to make tea. (I'm assuming this "tea" is made from the fruit and not the leaves of the acai palm.)

Never heard of it as a tea either, but you can get Zola Acai juice at Wild Oats.
On Preview: yeah - they do an acai smoothie at Robeks.

krisptoria - there is a whole foods in Louisville but they do not carry it. Next time I go there I'll try talking to someone in customer service.
dmo - I have never had acai tea but I can only image how delicious a acai green tea, acai black tea or acai mate would taste. With its growing popularity it should be only a matter of time.
_zed_ - I am pretty sure that Odwalla and Naked Juice DO NOT have a acai drink. I looked on both of there Web sites and neither of them have one. Sambazon has a smoothie that can be found at Wild Oats and Whole Foods - you can find it in the freezer section. Do you really think acai tastes nasty? I strongly disagree but to each its own.

I think Naked Juice has a mango acai blend. Also, WFM may carry the berries in the frozen section. Not the tea you are looking for, but maybe a way to get your fix.

Yeah, talk to the person who does the ordering at your local Whole Foods. Even though they don't stock it now they should be able to get it for you, perhaps even as a special order for you if they don't want it in their store. The Whole Foods near me sells all manner of Acai tea, juice, frozen whole fruit, etc...
