I can has job? (At age 58)

Someone recently kindly pointed out it was most likely ageism why I wasn't having much success finding a new job.

o I'm too young to retire and (apparently) too old to hire.
o I have a communications degree but have been working routine administrative work (with decent pay and awesome insurance) before my job was eliminated.
o I submit a minimum of two applications/resumes/cover letters a day (five days a week) and have had only had four interviews since I began this in late May, early June.
o My hair is a nice brown/silver. I can't dye it because I had pneumonia that hospitalized me a few years ago, and my doc and I jointly agreed it was not in my best interest to use something in a package that read, "If you have trouble breathing..."
o I recently had my resume updated by someone who does this a lot (action words and so on).
o I am quite overweight but meticulous in my dress and grooming.
o I've utilized the "get a good word from your friends" technique but not yet practiced the mock interviewing to check eye contact, etc.
o Even if I wanted to lose weight, both the drugs I take to stay alive (what the doctor himself said were "an automatic 25 pound gain") and the diagnosis of hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's make this more difficult.
o I am not saying impossible, just more difficult. Please no lectures; I eat sensibly and am active.
o No discussion on changing meds will be entertained. I've suffered enough side effects from the others I've tried. This one is the least of all evils.
o Then I think those phone jobs from home, like Amazon, would work well.
o I'm totally into my community and everything interesting in a hundred-mile radius. I once wrote the local paper asking for a column. They wouldn't give me one, but did let me do freelance (not enough to live on and very hard to reach them for more work).
o In fact, many of my friends consider me the go-to regarding quirky/unusual fun things to do -- wonder if maybe I could parlay this into something paying?
o I really believe part of the reason MY job was picked to be eliminated was that I asked for accommodations under the ADA and I was a pain in the tuches about it. But it would be durn hard to prove.
o If you've read this far, thank you.
