Saw this picture on a friends facebook post. He could not say where it was taken but said it came from a site called Beauty of Planet Earth on Facebook. Alot of their pictures appear to be heavily photoshopped and the places may not actually exist, Is this picture real and where is it?

Best answer: El Peñón de Guatapé is something called an "Inselberg" - basically a big lump of rock that has resisted erosion while other land around it disappeared. Here is a list of other inselbergs. The name for a larger mountain that stands alone like this is a "tepui" - such as the ones like this in next door Venezuela.

I’ve been there, climbed to the top, and am pleased to say it absolutely exists.
