Who sang Gummi Bears theme?
February 6, 2006 8:09 PM
I am trying to find out the name of the singer of the theme song from the nineteen eighties animated series, "The Gummi Bears." I can find information on the lyricist and composer, but nothing on the singer. Ideally, I would like to know the names of some other songs he has sung. Thank you.
(and there are mentions there of some of his other work)

Since you've gotten your answer I don't feel so bad taking this slight detour from the topic...
My boyfriend and I just sang the Gummi Bears song from memory. We're so happy right now.

That may be the most disturbing question I've seen on askmefi.

The Brown Derbies' version of the Gummi Bears theme is pure art.

It's funny that you ask this because I've had this song stuck in my head for the last 24 hours. You are asking for trouble, I tell you. ;)

I'm not entirely sure its the same person, but itunes Music Store is bringing up an album of contemporary Christian worship music called Songs from the Bennett House with 7 out of 12 tracks by a Gene Miller. The voice sounds very similar in the 30 second song samples, but then again that's a very generic voice. Google has no record of this album.

I was just about to go to work in a real grump - but no matter what happens at work, I will now walk on air for the rest of the day after seeing the video. Thank you!

Nevermind, I must of just spelled it wrong. google has a lot of it. This is definitely the same guy. Here are 162 albums he has appeared on. No offense but early cartoon theme song achievements aside, it would seem he kind of sucks. I mean Billy Ray Cyrus?

Great, now I'm going to have that song stuck in my head for the rest of the day. Though I guess that's better than Ducktales.
Ahhhhh CRAP.

Same here, except replace "the last 24 hours" with "since the 80s".

Not that it matters, but dgaicun, I am pretty sure they've merged two different Gene Millers in that list. One is an energetic soul and blues trumpeter, the other is a lifelong backup singer whose most important work seems to have been on "inspirational" albums.
I find it hard to believe that the guy who played trumpet with Donald Duck Dunn, Steve Cropper, Booker T Jones and Isaac Hayes on Otis Redding's album is the same guy who sung the Gummi Bears theme and has taken a paycheck from John Tesh on several occasions.
Maybe it's just me.

Ok, but that backup singer for Tesh and Cyrus is almost definately the same MoFo.

So everyone can get it stuck good, plus the college kids can get out the geetars and harmonicas and banjos like they like to do (you kids still like that yes? I graduated back in the twentieth century, you see).

There is a fantastic collection of various versions of the theme tune here: I quite like the translations, but the ska version kicks some serious arse as well.
