Printer Problems

We have a HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
This is a wireless printer, and before we got a new laptop, both Mrs. W and I could print directly from our Ipads with no problem. We recently got a new HP Laptop. The new laptop finds the printer, and we can print from the laptop directly, but when our Ipads now look for the printer, it says "no AirPrint Printers Found".
When I first set up the new laptop, it wanted to download a HP Printer app, which I assume would give me access to setting up scanning (which also doesn't work now), and I tried to download it onto the laptop, but the download failed twice, and then I couldn't find a link to download the app.
I am trying to solve this problem without having to call HP on the phone. Any advice on how to fix this? I did try resetting the printer by having it reconnect to our wifi as if it was brand new, but that did not solve the problem. I don't think the printer came with a disc; if it did, we can't find it now.

I have this printer and I feel your pain. My wife (who one who owns the Apple stuff) has given up on the ipad thing. For scanning, I recommend using Windows Fax and Scan, which really sucks but is at least willing to acknowledge the existence of this printer.

I have this printer and an iPad. I gave up on connecting wirelessly based on Googling and coming up with results like this that say HP printers are not compatible with iOS 11, and to use the HP Smart app. My wireless printing issue then got superseded by a print quality issue, no combination of new printer carts and cleaning will give me anything other than streaky printing, and it seems the fix for that is to buy a new HP printhead. F that, I guess I have a HP scanner now.

Re: HP printer app. HP software sucks.
We have a 7600. When we first installed it, the "app" was minimal and clunky. When we got a new desktop, we installed a newer app which is much better, but still clunky. Yes, you can use it to scan and copy with some control.

One thing that popped-out at me: do you have two wireless routers or just one? If you have more than one, make sure that the printer and iPad are connecting to the same router.
Also, someone mentioned turning the printer off and on again (twice) fixed it.
