Is Thimbleweed Park safe from Twin Peaks spoilers?

My wife is watching Twin Peaks for the first time and we'd like to play Thimbleweed Park, which I hear has a TP influence. My question is...(spoilers inside)...

Is it safe for us to play the game without a joke giving away who killed Laura Palmer, stuff about the Black Lodge, or anything like that? Any help much appreciated.

Best answer: So, I'm not familiar with Twin Peaks, but in general Thimbleweed Park is very much its own story that simply riffs on the tropes and imagery of mid-90s creepy pop culture stuff like Twin Peaks and the X-Files (with some meta-commentary on nostalgic consumption of media). You're probably safe. But you'll probably want someone who has actually seen Twin Peaks to confirm, because it's entirely possible there were direct references that simply went over my head.

Best answer: I just read the Wikipedia page for Thimbleweed Park and didn’t see anything that directly referenced any Twin Peaks plot points. I’m guessing the comment above is accurate!

Best answer: My partner just finished it up the other day and says he can't remember any specific references to Twin Peaks. He says it's possible there could have been a throwaway line or two somewhere, but nothing that stands out in his memory and he's pretty sure there were no recurring plot points / references / etc.
