A way for an Android program to speak Arabic?

Arabic doesn't seem to be among the languages supported by Android's TTS software (unless I'm mistaken). Is there a third-party library that would let a Java Android program speak out loud in Arabic?

So far the only thing I've found is the abandoned Belgian MBROLA project which doesn't seem to fit too smoothly with Android...it looked awesome but the 2000s binary didn't seem to work too well on my Mac.

There is a guy's GitHub attempt out there but it seems to rely on the aforementioned MBROLA. There's also a library out there for something called ESpeak but I'm wondering if this is a good way to go. Any help much appreciated.
