Looking For Editing and Design Assistance In Zine Publication
June 19, 2017 4:58 PM

I have been writing erotic haiku for the past eight years and would like to put some of my work out in 'zine form. Where would I find and editor for a reasonable cost? I do not have a background in English and am also skittish and vulnerable in showing my work to friends who have writing backgrounds. I would like to find an editor who I can feel supported by and who'll winnow out what works from what doesn't.

The editor is priority. Secondary is a graphic designer/artist. I feel that the zine can be a collaborative piece with the artist providing images based on the haiku. Or I can have a designer design the cover outright.

I live in the Los Angeles area. Where can I go to find this support and what opportunities are available to me at the best cost?

I don't have any specific zine info for Los Angeles, but in general, your best bet might be to track down a local zine press or distro that specializes in your genre and reaching out to someone there about collaborating with an artist and eventually printing. Here are some directories that might give you some leads. And Bottle Rockets Press looks like it prints haiku collections if you wanted to submit one there as well.
