What Should I Plant? (Hong Kong Edition)

I just moved to a new apartment in Hong Kong and it comes with a small roof terrace and quite a few planter boxes in my windows. There are some straggly palm-like things already, but many empty spaces. I want to plant things, but what? I am good at gardening but have little knowledge of plants for this kind of climate-- very very hot in the summer, very humid-- goes down to 50-60 degrees in the winter. Green thumbs and Experience wanted.
Hot peppers would work well, as would certain varieties of rosemary and lavender.

Best answer: Came to say Aloe but airmail beat me to it. There are many types of aloes to choose from. Also I had great succes with Papaya in a pot on a balcony when I lived in Florida.

Best answer: If you have something for it to climb on, a passionfruit vine is easy to grow and you get alien monster flowers and delicious passionfruit!
