Thunderbird address book synchronization?

Is it possible to (easily) synchronize address books in Thunderbird across multiple computers?
My SO is a Thunderbird junkie, but uses several different computers (all WinXP at this point) all with TBird. His accounts are all POP (IIRC), and now each computer has a slightly different address book. Is there a way to synchronize the address book easily? (He has an impressively low threshold for frustration, which is why I'm the one doing the research.)

If he can network the computers together, the Windows SyncToy can be set up to synchronize them - of course this means overwriting an older one with a newer one. Not ideal, is it?
